DBU REPORT 26 THE RUNDOWN This past May, the DBU Women’s Golf Team has secured their third National Title after prevailing 4-1 over No. 20 Central Missouri Jennies in the championship match. The Patriots entered the tournament ranked No. 4 in the nation, then bested the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in Friday’s rounds to secure their spot in the final match. The Jennies earned the first point of the day, but DBU seized the final four points to take the trophy. Ella Cheek opened day five of the NCAA DII Championship with a match against UCM’s Mia Rallo. Cheek was in control for the majority of the match until Rallo tied the match on the 17th hole, then birdied the last to give the Jennie’s their first point. Sidney Robertson’s match versus Maya McVey fell in her favor after trailing for the entire first nine. Robertson finally gained control of the match on the 11th hole and went on to birdie three of her last eight holes to shoot 69 (-3) and win the match by three. Madison Ude represented the Patriots in match three against Nicole Rallo, where she never trailed. Ude held the lead consistently after hole four, finishing the day two-up on Rallo thanks to a oneunder 71. At this point, the Patriots were ahead 2-1 with Gracie Grant’s match coming up. Grant and Kiki Bruner’s match stayed close all day, and was even tied on hole 15. Grant was able to finish one-up on Bruner to secure DBU’s third and winning point. Match five, Jordan Karrh’s match, was just the cherry on top for the Patriots. She finished eight up on UCM’s Libby Green to give DBU a 4-1 win over the Jennies.
