SPRING 2026 15 DALLAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S AUXILIARY BOARD Honors Three Distinguished Christian Women at the 2025 Ruth Awards Luncheon Women’s Auxilary Board Executive Directors Skyla Teat (2018), Leslie Moulton (2019–present), Dr. Gail Linam (1988-2001), Candice Wright (2001–2016), and Janae Gibson (2017) Ruth Award Recipients Liz Heefner, Mary Brigham, and Charla Vinyard First Lady Candice Wright, Ruth Awards Luncheon Chair Frankie Horn, and Women’s Auxilary Board President Beth Grace On Wednesday, December 2, the Dallas Baptist University Women’s Auxiliary Board gathered in the Great Hall for the 40th annual Ruth Awards Luncheon, an event honoring Christian women whose lives reflect the steadfast faith and devotion of Ruth in Scripture. Guests entered a beautifully decorated Christmas setting, where Women’s Auxiliary Board President Beth Grace offered a warm welcome to begin the celebration. Following her remarks, DBU President Dr. Adam C. Wright shared both humorous and heartfelt words, expressing gratitude for the Women’s Auxiliary Board and honoring this year’s award recipients. He reflected on the spiritual life of DBU’s campus, provided updates on enrollment growth, new facilities, and athletic milestones, and invited attendees to continue praying for the University’s Christ-centered mission. To open the formal program, DBU junior William Youngblood read Ruth 1:16–17, reminding attendees that the Ruth Award celebrates women who demonstrate deep commitment to the Lord, their families, and the mission of Christian education. Honoring Mrs. Mary Brigham Senior Brady Becker introduced Mrs. Mary Brigham, recognizing her lifelong devotion to faith, family, and community. Known for her generosity, leadership, and love for DBU, Mary has long supported Christian education and encouraged students, including her own grandchildren. She accepted the award with gratitude, reflecting on the privilege of making God’s love visible through service. Honoring Mrs. Liz Heefner DBU Head Baseball Coach Dan Heefner introduced his wife, Mrs. Liz Heefner, honoring her quiet strength, joyful spirit, and deep investment in the DBU community. Through mentoring young mothers, supporting families, and praying daily for DBU Baseball players, Liz has touched countless lives. In her remarks, she shared her love for DBU and expressed gratitude for the way the University has shaped her family. Honoring Mrs. Charla Vinyard Dr. Jack Goodyear introduced Mrs. Charla Vinyard, highlighting her life of faith, her love for worship, and her family’s long-standing support of DBU. Inspired years ago by her stepmother, also a Ruth Award recipient, Charla has continued that legacy through her commitment to the University. She was honored for her devotion to family, community, and the mission of Christian education.
