Journal of K-12 Educational Research 19 9 P4 I am extremely excited about this. Trauma is something that can come from out of nowhere and I think as teachers we need to be prepared to handle it and help our students in any way that we can. Knowing more about trauma-informed practices would significantly enhance my ability to support and connect with students in the classroom. Understanding the impact of trauma on learning, behavior, and emotional regulation allows me to create a more empathetic, supportive, and effective learning environment for all students, particularly those who have experienced adversity. P5 I believe knowing more about trauma-informed practices will help me understand how trauma affects learning and behavior and how to support the students who have experienced trauma. Knowing more about trauma-informed practices will help me to build relationships with students who have experienced trauma and respond to their needs. I can help students feel safe and regulate their emotional responses by providing strategies, routines, and expectations in the classroom. P6 It will help me to better understand students and the trauma they have experienced being that personally I have not been a victim to these types of trauma. As a teacher, using trauma-informed practices will help create a safe and supportive environment for all students, especially those who have experienced adversity or trauma. P7 Knowing what a student has been through would help explain their behavior. This would help us better support that student in many ways. We would know their triggers, the root cause, how they need to be cared for and even disciplined. This would help us build a better relationship with that student. Knowing more about trauma-informed practices will help me create a classroom that is safe and supportive to students. By recognizing the signs of trauma, I am able to react to their behavior with empathy rather than judgment, and I can build stronger relationships with my students. This approach also helps me be more mindful of my own reactions and model healthy ways to cope with stress. P8 Yes, I believe you can never have too much training on this type of topic. I think knowing more about trauma-informed practices will really help me connect with my students on a deeper level. Understanding how trauma impacts their behavior and learning will allow me to respond with more empathy, especially when they’re having a tough time. It’ll also help me create a classroom where everyone feels safe, supported, and understood. By recognizing the signs of trauma, I can offer the right kind of help and give students the tools they need to manage their emotions and succeed, both in school and in life.
