58 Qualitative Analysis Post-sort interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using MAXQDA software. Open coding was used to identify key concepts, which were then grouped into axial codes and thematic categories. This analysis focused on: • Descriptions of challenges related to supervising special education • Perceptions of gaps in principal preparation programs • Suggestions for improving leadership development related to inclusive education. The focus group interview with district leaders provided triangulating data and deeper insight into the structures and intentions of the District’s leadership pipeline program, LEAD. Their responses were analyzed thematically to complement and expand upon findings from the campus administrators. Summary of Findings The researcher met individually with each campus administrator participant to gather data to answer RQ1 through the Q-sort process. Research Question 1 (RQ1) What principal competencies are most important for the role of the modern principal? Figure 1 presents a sample of a completed Q-Sort from a campus administrator participant.
