DBU Report Summer 2026

11 “ “ I am inspired by high-level leaders who operate in a spirit of humility, and Dr. Adam Wright is a powerful example of that. His love for students will leave a long legacy that earns compound interest with every student who carries the DNA of DBU. DR. MARK BATTERSON Author; Lead Visionary, National Community Church, Washington, D.C. Over the past decade, it has been an absolute joy to witness Dr. Adam C. Wright’s servant-hearted leadership at Dallas Baptist University. Having known him for 27 years, I have seen him confirm everything I first recognized in him, and more. I have come to deeply appreciate Dr. Wright's Christ-centered life, unwavering integrity, and genuine love for people. He leads with both vision and humility—anticipating challenges, listening attentively, and calling out the best in others—while keeping Jesus preeminent in his life, family, and leadership. DR. GARY SINGLETON Senior Pastor, The Heights Church, Richardson, Texas Chairman, DBU Board of Trustees Having known Dr. Wright for twenty years and walked closely with him over the last decade, I have witnessed firsthand his genuine heart and desire to emulate Jesus. I have watched him lead with both conviction and humility, love his family with devotion and intention, and carry the weight of responsibility without losing his joy or gentleness. He honors the Lord in the decisions he makes, the faith he exhibits, the relationships he stewards, and the institution he serves. DR. JARRETT STEPHENS Senior Pastor, Champion Forest, Houston, Texas Member, DBU Board of Trustees I have been so proud of Adam and Candice as they have served DBU so effectively these last ten years. Through their dedicated Christian parents, the Lord began preparing Adam and Candice many years ago for their responsibilities as President and First Lady. Adam realizes that it is a sacred trust to lead DBU, and he has done a great job in focusing on his desire to keep DBU Christcentered, affirming every day that Christ is the reason for this University. DR. GARY COOK Chancellor, Dallas Baptist University I have the utmost respect for President Wright and his leadership style. I believe he leads with authenticity and humility: two of the best traits of any great leader. However, beyond that, I think his real “secret weapon” is that he is smart enough to surround himself with high-quality people, starting with his wonderful wife and his talented Cabinet members. DR. VICTOR J. BOSCHINI, JR. Chancellor Emeritus, Texas Christian University Dr. Wright is a rare combination: a man of unimpeachable integrity who works with tireless industriousness yet never loses the boyish spark in his eyes when something delights him. But what I treasure most is that he doesn't just show up for the celebration. He shows up when it costs something. He serves with genuine love and ardent strength, not because a role demands it, but because that is simply who he is. Dallas Baptist University has been shaped by a president of great capability. But those of us around President Adam Wright have been shaped by a friend of even greater character. Ten years, and counting, of faithful, fruitful leadership. What a gift it is. MARK LANIER, J.D. Founder, The Lanier Law Firm Great leadership is measured not just by growth, but by the values it upholds. Dr. Wright's service has demonstrated expansion in enrollment, the development of the Carter School of Business and higher accreditation while maintaining his integrity and faith—leaving a lasting mark on Dallas Baptist University and all who are part of it. May this milestone be a moment of pride and reflection, and may God continue to bless and guide him in the years ahead.
