8 Dallas Baptist University’s Bush College of Education is pleased to announce that six students competed in the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) state conference, with all six advancing to the Educator Rising National Competition in Portland, Oregon, in June. This achievement is especially meaningful as it comes during DBU’s inaugural year as a collegiate chapter, reflecting the students’ dedication and commitment to excellence. Their journey began at the Area 11 Conference in October, where they qualified for state before earning a place at Nationals. Andrea Ayala wrote and illustrated “The Bubble,” Keke Carr delivered an Educator Rising Moment speech, Sarah Smith created Fast and Factorable, and Barb Blackmon designed a bulletin board on the Texas Regions before delivering a 25-minute impromptu lesson. Emerson Lippert-Goforth and Berean Matthews presented an Ethical Dilemma presentation on Artificial Intelligence in the classroom. “Participating in the TAFE competition was a wonderful opportunity to put into practice everything we are learning. It also allowed me to connect with fellow future educators as well as current professionals in the field, which made the experience even more meaningful,” said Andrea Ayala. Students presented to judges within strict time limits and were evaluated on product substance, delivery professionalism, and overall presentation quality. “We celebrate each of these students and the way they are representing DBU and the College of Education. I am so proud of them for saying ‘yes’ to this challenge over and above all that they are doing in their normal course load.
