9 Dallas Baptist University students spent Spring Break learning and serving through mission and leadership trips. BEACH REACH At Beach Reach in South Padre Island, Texas, DBU’s Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) shared the gospel through van rides, pancakes, prayer, and conversations. Partnering with BSMs across Texas, the ministry saw 206 people come to know Christ, 49 recommitments, and 35 baptisms. DBU BSM Director Ryan Hodges shared that DBU students saw two recommitments, 46 new decisions, and 12 baptisms. DBU Student Matthew Ball encouraged other students to “pray bold prayers and just watch how God will answer and move.” BERLIN & AMSTERDAM In Berlin and Amsterdam, Dr. Jon Dooley, Dr. Jay Harley, Dr. H. Rick Jordan, and Dr. Blake Killingsworth led students in the study of Christian leadership in crisis. Students visited sites tied to Corrie ten Boom, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Niemöller, the Nuremberg Courthouse, Sachsenhausen, and Ravensbrück. “The impact I have seen on students is profound,” says Dr. Harley, DBU’s Vice President for Student Affairs. CIVIL RIGHTS TRIP Dr. Jack Goodyear, Dr. Rodney Garrett, and Prof. Tish Hearne led students through Little Rock, Memphis, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Jackson to study the Civil Rights Movement. Ph.D. student Exauce Madjibe Dijo said the National Civil Rights Museum “allowed me to walk, read, and experience the civil rights movement step by step.” CHAPEL WORSHIP RETREAT – COLORADO DBU’s Chapel Worship team traveled to Westcliffe for their annual songwriting retreat, spending time in Scripture, collaboration, and worship surrounded by the mountains. Inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:15–21, the team wrote new songs they look forward to sharing with the DBU community. WASHINGTON, D.C. In Washington, D.C., Dr. Adam C. Wright and Dr. Brent Taylor took a group of students to visited famous sites such as the Lincoln Memorial, the National Archives, and the Washington National Cathedral. The group also had the opportunity to meet with Senator James Lankford, followed by a tour of the U.S. Capitol.
