20 On a quiet Wednesday during Holy Week, the Hillcrest Great Hall at Dallas Baptist University was filled with conversation, reflection, and a shared sense of purpose as the Women’s Auxiliary Board hosted the 2026 Bluebonnet Luncheon. The annual gathering brought together friends, supporters, students, and University leadership for more than a luncheon; it was a time to pause, reflect on God’s faithfulness, and celebrate the mission of DBU. Rooted in prayer and guided by a desire to invest in students, the event highlighted the impact of a Christ-centered education while raising support for student scholarships. From the beginning, the tone of the day was set with Scripture and prayer. Kaylee LaBarre, a freshman from Honolulu, Hawaii, shared a powerful recitation of Scripture reminding attendees of God’s intimate knowledge of His people, His constant presence, and His promise of comfort, guidance, and rest for those who trust in Him. Throughout the program, speakers emphasized that every detail of the event, from planning to participation, had been covered in prayer. Executive Director of the Women’s Auxiliary Board, Leslie Moulton, reflected on the heart behind the organization’s work and the opportunity to walk alongside students during some of the most formative years of their lives. “Our desire is to see students come to know Christ and grow in their faith during these years,” Leslie shared. “Through prayer, giving, and serving, we are investing in lives that will go on to make an eternal impact.” The Bluebonnet Luncheon Committee, led by Chairwoman Raschelle Loudenslager, played a significant role in bringing that vision to life. Their efforts not only created a welcoming and meaningful event but also advanced a shared goal of raising scholarship funds for DBU students. Before the luncheon even began, the committee had already raised $8,000 toward its $20,000 goal while fully underwriting the cost of the event. Raschelle encouraged guests to reflect on their presence at the luncheon, reminding them that their attendance was not by chance. “You are not here by accident,” she said. “You were here by divine appointment.” She also pointed to the broader impact of DBU’s mission, highlighting the University’s 432 international students representing 49 countries. For Raschelle, this diversity reflects a greater Kingdom vision, one where lives from around the world are shaped through faith and education.
