39 JOINS THE PAC-12 CONFERENCE DBU HOSTS SPIRIT SHOWCASE AHEAD OF NATIONALS IN DAYTONA WAS REPRESENTED ON THE NATIONAL STAGE BY ELLIE FRYE AND KENDAL BROWN AT THE NCAA DIVISION II OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS THE DBU WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD TEAM DBU BASEBALL DBU SPIRIT SHOWOFF Competing in seven events across two days, Kendal Brown entered the national championships ranked 15th nationally in the heptathlon after setting a school-record total of 5,051 points earlier this season. Brown finished 12th in the nation with 4,899 points, highlighted by a personal-best high jump clearance of 1.57m. With her performance, she earned Second-Team All-American honors and became the first athlete in DBU history to compete in the multi-events at the NCAA Division II Championships. Ellie Frye closed out her remarkable DBU career with a 12th-place finish in the 800m run. Racing in the fastest preliminary heat of the event, Frye battled to the finish line and posted a time of 2:08.39. She concludes her collegiate career as a five-time NCAA National Championships qualifier and a Second-Team All-American, solidifying her place among the most accomplished Lady Patriots in program history. In August 2025, DBU Baseball accepted an invitation to join the Pac-12 Conference as an affiliate member beginning on July 1, 2026, with the Patriots’ inaugural Pac-12 season set for 2027. Beginning in the spring of 2027, DBU will compete alongside six established programs, a group that includes national champions Oregon State and Fresno State, as well as Washington State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, and Texas State. Collectively, the Pac-12’s current members have won four national championships in the last 20 years. DBU’s arrival and a revitalized Pac-12 situates the program within a conference steeped in history and national prestige. Dallas Baptist University recently hosted a Spirit Showcase on campus as the DBU Patriettes Dance Team and DBU Cheer prepared for the NCA and NDA Collegiate National Championships in Daytona, Florida. The event welcomed seven programs from across the region, with several schools bringing multiple teams, totaling five dance teams and 12 cheer teams. With an estimated crowd of 700 to 800 spectators and athletes in attendance, the showcase created an exciting championship atmosphere on University Hill. Teams had the unique opportunity to perform on a stage designed to replicate the iconic Daytona Bandshell, giving participants the closest possible experience to the national competition stage. The showcase provided athletes with valuable preparation ahead of nationals while also celebrating the dedication, talent, and spirit of collegiate cheer and dance programs.
